The Aglianico has quickly become one of Justin Boeger’s favorite wines to make. It’s an ancient variety that Greek settlers brought to Southern Italy around 800 BC, no wonder it is so different than anything else we make. Paired best with beef/lamb gyros, Pecorino cheese, and Mongolian Beef.
It's our most popular white wine, but WITH BUBBLES! This 187ml cutie is the perfect serving size when you don't want to open a full bottle, and also makes a great gift. The label is a Lexi Boeger original watercolor drawing of Queen Anne's Lace, which dots our vineyard rows and acts as a cover crop.
Invitingly aromatic, this Chardonnay fills the glass with inviting, warm aromas. The majority of fruit for this wine came from vineyards at 2,200’ above sea level, helping the wine retain enough acidity to bring freshness to the finish. A full malolactic fermentation was performed to promote softness on the palate, while weekly lees stirring throughout the aging process contributed roundness and body.
Our Estate Barbera is a true reflection of Boeger heritage in a bottle. A blend of all the Barbera clones grown on our estate vineyards, it showcases layers of complexity and the rich history of our family. This variety thrives in our high-elevation vineyards, producing bold flavors with a perfect balance of ripeness and acidity—resulting in a smooth, easy-drinking wine that stands as our flagship!
Falanghina is a rare Italian variety primarily produced in Campania, Italy. It is known for its berries' intense yellow color and the waxy coating that covers them. With ancient origins tracing back to Roman times, it was traditionally made in both dry and sweet styles. Once considered at risk of extinction, Falanghina has regained popularity over the past couple of decades. It pairs well with a pear and gorgonzola salad and toffee almonds.
This vintage of The Hangtown Gold is a call-back to the lively Gold Rush history of Placerville. The town once formerly known as “Hangtown”, as it was the county seat where justice was carried out. Made from a blend of three aromatic whites, Flora, Semillon and Muscat Canelli, this is a definite crowd-pleaser for warm weather sipping!
This vintage of The Hangtown Gold is a call-back to the lively Gold Rush history of Placerville. The town once formerly known as “Hangtown”, as it was the county seat where justice was carried out. Made from a blend of four aromatic whites, Flora, Semillon, Riesling, and Muscat Canelli, this is a definite crowd-pleaser for warm weather sipping!
The “Lucky Boy” blend is a reference to a local historic gold mine. Best enjoyed slightly chilled to display freshness. This wine is meant to be enjoyed as an apéritif or digestif, a sipping wine to be savored and enjoyed over conversation before or after a meal.
The Boeger Estate Merlot is the dark horse of the winery. The variety is often underplayed by the assumption of Merlot’s quality from the popular movie, Sideways. However, our Merlot has been served in the White House on more than one occasion and continues to be a staple to our wine portfolio. The name Merlot is derived from the French word “merle” referring to a blackbird. This could be from the dark sleek blue and black color of the grapes. Being the most planted variety in Bordeaux, France, we are proud to produce it to this day.
Milagro is one of our cherished M-series blends. Representing wines from Spain, making this blend becomes a mission to capture the flair for food and culture of that region. Winemaking in Spain is described in terms of “elaborar”, meaning to elaborate what the grapes are trying to express without manipulating the wine to be anything otherwise. Our goal is to elaborate the distinct qualities of our high-elevation terroir, and flavors that are true to the fruit.
A true gem of southern Italy, Negroamaro has long been treasured in the sun-drenched vineyards of Puglia—particularly in the “heel” of the Italian boot. At Boeger, we introduced this distinctive varietal in 2012, inspired by our passion for Italian heritage grapes and their ability to thrive in our terroir. Planted alongside our other southern Italian cultivars, Negroamaro adds a vibrant and soulful voice to our collection. Equally delightful on its own or paired with a wide range of dishes, this wine brings a taste of southern Italy to every glass.
Nero d’Avola is a red grape variety native to Sicily and considered the island’s most important indigenous grape. Its name means “Black of Avola,” referencing the small town in southeastern Sicily where it is believed to have originated. Historically valued for its deep color and robust character, Nero d’Avola was once used primarily for blending, but in recent decades it has gained recognition as a varietal wine.
Petite Sirah has been credited for being a wonderful blending wine, due to its incredible, intense color, and flavor. It’s only relatively recently, in the Sierra Foothills, that winemakers have been bottling this wine as a single variety. Our Petite Sirah contains a marriage of two contrasting vineyards: the walker vineyard showcases ripe fruit and smooth tannins. The estate properties contain more acid, and an earthy component to the blend.
Pinot Gris, also known as Pinot Grigio (Italy) or Grauburgunder (Germany). The grape variety is ancient, being traced back to Middle Ages in Burgundy. Known for its gray/ pinkish-colored skin, this variety is most commonly made as a white wine that ranges in flavor and body depending on the climate and the region it is grown in. Pairs nicely with Havarti cheese, fresh chopped summer fruits, salads, and sea food.
Pinot Noir is a rare sight in the Foothills. These grapes come from our Pinot Grande vineyard, named after the neighboring "Pine-O-Grande" Wood Mill. The high elevation of this vineyard helps maintain a cool growing season for this delicate variety. It pairs well with Portabella mushroom burgers, duck, pizza, risotto, butternut squash, and salmon.
Primitivo is often associated with Zinfandel, primarily because they are both clones of a Croatian grape called Crljenak. This means that they are very closely related genetically, but the wines offer different characteristics due to random genetic mutations that can occur from stress, pest pressures, and many other factors.
This vintage of Primitivo Rosé is exceptionally darker in color, displaying much more fruity flavors and bolder mouthfeel than our previous vintage. While there are many ways to make a rosé, the pink color in this wine occurs naturally by soaking the juice with the skins of the grape for 24 hours. Pair with a soft cheese or a fresh summer salad with ripe strawberries.
A variety of clones grown on vineyards between 2,000 and 3,000 feet are used to make up our Barbera, creating a perfect representation of El Dorado County Barbera. Our Reserve Barbera is a blend of hand-selected barrels that stood out to be the best of the vintage. With a little Cabernet Sauvignon, a touch of Petite Sirah, and extended barrel aging, this Reserve Barbera has depth and structure that make it enjoyable now!
An ancient grape from Umbria, Italy, Sagrantino is known for its inky-purple color, bold tannins, and rich black fruit character. Once noted by Pliny the Elder and today honored with DOCG status in its homeland, it now thrives in our vineyards as part of Boeger’s rare collection of varietals.
One of the crown jewels of Tuscany, Sangiovese continues to inspire us with every vintage. Grown in several small blocks, each less than an acre, strategically placed across our estate, this wine reflects both the soul of the varietal and the character of our diverse soils. Crafted as a single-varietal expression, it’s designed to be a graceful companion to any Italian dish. Lightly chilled, it becomes the ultimate summer red. We only wish we made more.
Our Sauvignon Blanc is our most popular white wine! Its refreshing character and slightly sweet finish makes this wine an easy sipper to enjoy with good friends and good times. Pairs well with Thai food, seared scallops, creamy pastas, and fresh greens.
Tannat is a fun new variety in our lineup! It was an opportunistic purchase made by Justin Boeger based on a recommendation from our friends at Viani Vineyards in Pilot Hill. Tannat originally hails from the Basque Country, situated within the borders of France and Spain. It was introduced to Uruguay in 1870 by Basque immigrants and is now the national red grape of Uruguay. This grape variety is renowned for its high tannins, deep rich color, and abundance of antioxidants.
VinePair names Walker one of the best Zinfandels under $30!
The Walker Zinfandel is a vineyard-designated wine that showcases fruit from the Walker Vineyard. This wine typically includes some amount of Petite Sirah, as these two varietals complement each other exceptionally well! Zinfandel offers a delightful ripe and jammy fruit flavor with hints of black pepper. Meanwhile, Petite Sirah contributes purple tones to the color and introduces elegant tannins that enhance the wine's body and texture. These two fruit-forward wines combine their individual characteristics to create a harmonious blend.
This vintage pairs beautifully with dishes such as braised short ribs, grilled figs with goat cheese and balsamic, and pork chop with a peach or apple glaze.
Hailing from our Pinot Grande vineyard, our high elevation Pinots are a delight to all. This vintage of White Pinot Noir is truly one of a kind and unlike any of our previous vintages. Notice the color is a delicate salmon-hue, and the incorporation of acacia wood used in the aging process lends to a creamy taste and luxurious mouthfeel. This is a brand-new take on a classic wine by Boeger, and we hope you enjoy our creative efforts! Would pair well with baked brie, toasted nuts, charcuterie, salmon, and summer salads.
Riesling, a German variety, does exceedingly well here in the El Dorado AVA. With our diurnal temperature shifts (hotter days and cooler nights, thanks to our elevation), this variety is able to retain its sharp acidity while developing beautiful tropical notes like pineapple! Would pair beautifully with sushi, and white seafood dishes, along with other Indian and Asian dishes. Typically served best very chilled, at fridge temp 43⁰F.
